She saw that they were serious and accepted that they were going to kill her, but then felt nothing but deep compassion for the two men. She exhibited no fear at all, and only felt a mother's kind of love for them. It was a direct body response rather than a mind response. Not encountering the kind of fear they expected, and seeing something entirely different shining from the woman's face, both men instantly lost all interest in hurting her, and one man burst into tears and begged her to forgive him. She was in an altered state of mind and the full impact of what had happened didn't hit her until later.
