...is the realization that the one who was seeking enlightenment does not exist--that there is only THIS, without boundary or separation. I would suggest attaining that realization first, and then see if the definition lacks anything.
Some people claim that they dream in technicolor. Some people claim that they are awake while dreaming. Some people claim that they don't dream at all. Some people claim that they are awake whether dreaming or not dreaming.
By adding enough conditions to the fundamental definition, enlightenment could probably be defined in such a way that not even the Buddha could satisfy the criteria. Having such a definition might make someone feel special, and s/he could then publish a book explaining why no one has ever met his/her criteria. LOL
