Important note: All the posts on this blog were written by Bob Harwood (AKA 'zendancer') on the forum spiritualteachers.proboards.com. I have merely reposted a collection of them in blog format for the convenience of seekers. Some very small mods were made on occasion to make posts readable outside of the forum setting they were made in.

Many non-dual traditions from the East

...contain teachings and ideas that are peculiar to those cultures and seem, from a westerner's perspective, either quaint or bizarre. To become a Bodhisattva monk in one tradition a person has to take 240 vows which include agreements not to touch money, not to use after-shave lotion, not to attend any form of entertainment, not to use any form of makeup, not to use any form of soap that has a pleasing smell, etc. etc. etc. In the West most teachers are not celibate and don't beg for a living. IMO western non-duality teachers have a much healthier and more life-affirming attitude than do many teachers in the East.
