Then, they have a big experience and see emptiness. Afterwards, they get attached to emptiness. It's like first seeing one half of something, and then seeing the other half, and both times getting attached. The truth includes both halves as well as everything in between and also beyond.
This is why saying either, "There is no choice," or "There is choice," misses the mark. The truth cannot be grasped by the mind, but we can use words to point to it (as in this post). If there is any feeling that one has a position or viewpoint that needs to be defended, that's a good indication of abidance in mind. Some stuckness is lurking somewhere.
Anytime we feel like saying, "You're wrong!" it's best to find out where that judgment is coming from. The sage sees everyone as a perfect manifestation of "what is." She does not try to fix people. She only offers help when advice or direction is requested.
