ATA can collapse structures of thought (SOT) resulting in freedom from thought. In my case ATA sequentially collapsed SOT. "Thingness" was the first structure to collapse. For the first time I saw the difference between what I THOUGHT were "things" or "objects" and what things ARE. IOW, I saw through the illusion of separateness. "Meaning" was the second structure to collapse. I suddenly realized that there are two kinds of meaning, relative and absolute. Relative meaning is a SOT. Absolute meaning is radically different. Over the following years many lesser SOT collapsed. Selfhood was the last structure to go, but when it did, there was no longer any need to ATA or seek silence. Once it was seen, clearly, that THIS is what I AM, and that I was never a separate entity, then it no longer mattered whether there was thinking or not thinking. It was only then that I fully appreciated that line in the sutras that woke up Hui Neng, "Without hindrance let the mind function freely." Only then was it seen that ordinary life is the way, "just like this."
When it is clearly seen that who one IS is THIS, there is a relaxation of being, and an end to all seeking. Seeking ends because the illusion of being a seeker has been seen through. There is simply no one here but THIS, and THIS is all-encompassing.
When the body dies, I will still be here because I am THIS, and THIS is what all universes appear within. If all universes disappear it will not affect me/THIS at all. I/THIS am everlasting. THIS is the eternal life that Jesus and all other spiritual masters throughout the ages have pointed to.
