One of the advantages of being able to spend long periods of time without thinking is the realization that (1) most thinking is unnecessary and (2) thinking creates layers upon layers of illusions. The illusion of choice and the illusion of no-choice both originate in thought. In the absence of thought the truth shines forth.
The body gets up, walks to the car parked outside, drives to a restaurant, parks the car, goes inside, buys a cup of coffee, sits down, drinks the coffee, watches people come and go, watches some small birds eating scraps of food on the sidewalk outside, gets up, walks to the car, and drives away. Silence from beginning to end. No thoughts at all. Pure intelligence and pure awareness without words, ideas, images, beliefs, or reflections of any kind.
As the body drives the car, thoughts appear. "Does anything ever happen? Is there anyone who ever does anything? Is there someone who makes choices? Is there someone or something in control of anything? Is it better to tell people that they have a choice or don't have a choice?" The body smiles and then chuckles.
Leonard Jacobsen:
"You would be quite amazed
to know how little I think.
I am not trying to stop thinking.
I think when it is necessary to think
but beyond that, I don't think."
and:
"Truth exists only in silence.
Truth exists only in the present moment.
You will have to be silent and fully present
if you are to know the Truth."
