Important note: All the posts on this blog were written by Bob Harwood (AKA 'zendancer') on the forum spiritualteachers.proboards.com. I have merely reposted a collection of them in blog format for the convenience of seekers. Some very small mods were made on occasion to make posts readable outside of the forum setting they were made in.

A quiet mind is not "better" than a thoughtful mind i

...n any ultimate sense, but ONE OF THE ADVANTAGES of a quiet mind is that certain illusions can be easily seen through (such as the one being disussed in this thread--volition). A thoughtful mind is more advantageous than a quiet mind if one needs to solve a problem requiring abstract thought.

Most people stay so lost in thoughts, and so jerked around by their ideas ABOUT life, that the Living Truth remains securely hidden. On this subject Tolle once said, "If I had to name my greatest accomplishment in life (which he acknowledges he had nothing to do with), it would be freedom from incessant thought." He didn't say "...freedom from ALL thought." He said, ".... freedom from INCESSANT thought." The distinction is important.
