Important note: All the posts on this blog were written by Bob Harwood (AKA 'zendancer') on the forum spiritualteachers.proboards.com. I have merely reposted a collection of them in blog format for the convenience of seekers. Some very small mods were made on occasion to make posts readable outside of the forum setting they were made in.

Dishes

I am probably one of the few people who enjoy doing dishes by hand (I never use a dishwasher much to my wife's dismay), and I never object to that task. I often use the phrase "doing the dishes" to point to everyday life as ordinary isness rather than awesome or mundane, but I didn;t realize until you responded that I hadn't answered the question you asked. You asked "Why is it......." etc, and I responded in the same vein as E. I was saying that sooner or later blissful states come to an end, life goes on, and ordinary everyday life is just fine without any bells or whistles.

But that didn't answer your question. The reason most people don't see, even occasionally, how amazing THIS is is due to conditioned thought processes. Most people look at the world and think they understand it, so they don't really look at it or see it. They're usually living in their heads. Breaking free of their conditioned perspectives can lead to some pretty spectacular states of mind, but even those states fade away over time and they end up here and now doing whatever it is that they're doing.

I would be very surprised if the excitement and fascination expressed in your post is still present ten or twenty years from now. If it is, then let me know, so that I can take you out to dinner and celebrate a particularly long-lasting state of mind.

FWIW don't pay any attention to those of us who've been around Mt. Woo Woo several times; we're probably just a bit jaded. Have fun and enjoy the ride.
