Important note: All the posts on this blog were written by Bob Harwood (AKA 'zendancer') on the forum spiritualteachers.proboards.com. I have merely reposted a collection of them in blog format for the convenience of seekers. Some very small mods were made on occasion to make posts readable outside of the forum setting they were made in.

Being a one-trick pony

...(ie. ATA) I can assure you that if you stay focused on "what is," the mind will eventually cease to be a problem. Seeking is what most minds do, but seeking is future-oriented. "What is" is always here and now. Shift attention away from thoughts to what can be seen or heard in this moment, and mind will be left behind. When the eyes look at the world--really look--where is any seeking? Gone. Seeking only reappears when attention shifts back to thoughts. That's a big clue. Attention can either be focused upon isness or imagination. If attention stays focused upon isness, thought habits, thought reinforcement, and thought structures inevitably collapse.
